| Yoo Ha-jun (柳嘏俊) broke the Korean Go record, becoming a professional Go player at the age of 9 years, 6 months, and 12 days. This news was widely shared by Go clubs around the world, as someone has broken a record! The previous record was set by Cho Hun-hyun in 1962 at 9 years, 7 months, and 5 days, 63 years later broken by Yoo Ha-jun. On December 18th, in the fourth round of the 3rd Korean Under-12 Professional Go Tournament, Pyo Geon-woo (표현우) and Yoo Ha-jun (柳嘏俊) advanced and became professional Go players. The tournament featured 55 students under the age of 12 from the Korea Baduk Association and local graduate programs, competing in a four-round, double-elimination tournament, ultimately awarding two professional Go player spots. Pyo Geon-woo (표현우) was born on February 2, 2013. Yoo Ha-jun (柳嘏俊) Born on June 7, 2016. The world’s youngest dan rankings remain: (Japan) Fujita Reo, 9 years, 4 months, and 6 days old; (Korea) Cho Hun-hyun, 9 years, 7 months, and 5 days old; (China) Chang Hao, 9 years and 8 months old; (Taiwan) Cheng Yu-hao, 9 years and 9 months old; (China) Yang Ding-xin, 9 years and 9 months old.  |
